Spooky Pets 016: La Belle Blanc

Hello spooky friends! As always we hope everyone is having an excellent week, and we are very excited to share our latest sponsorship with you.

This week, the Spooky Pets community chose to help out a very special dog. This is Blanc.

Blanc is a rescue dog in Atlanta who was transported all the way from Korea by Korean Paws Rescue. Korean Paws is a rescue that specializes in pulling domestic and international dogs from shelters, puppy mills and the meat trade.

Blanc is a meat trade survivor. She was kept at a farm for breeding and, when the farm shut down and killed all of the other dogs, Blanc escaped. When she escaped, Blanc was pregnant and birthed her litter as a stray. After being rescued, Blanc’s entire litter was adopted, but she stayed in the shelter for several years before being transferred to the US. The rescue thinks she is now about eight years old.

The team at KPR has chosen to keep Blanc as a fospice (foster/hospice) dog due to several health issues she is experiencing as a result of her rough past. Blanc is newly blind and adjusting to life without sight. She is losing her hearing, needs dental surgery, is overweight (over-crating and possible thyroid) and has no voice, potentially from having her vocal cords removed. And Blanc is in early heart failure due to a history of heartworms.

Despite everything she’s been through, Blanc is a friendly and loving dog and would be very adoptable if she were in better health. Blanc’s story is tragic, but is also a testament to the resilience and forgiveness of dogs…as the old saying goes, we don’t deserve them :) The Spooky Pets community has donated $1000 to Korean Paws Rescue to assist with Blanc’s continued care. We hope she stays with us for as long as possible and enjoys every minute from here out.
